With Spring scheduled to arrive with the vernal equinox at 7:02 A.M. (EDT) on March 20, 2013 in the Northern Hemisphere, it’s time for the annual flood of tune-up reminders.

If you have not yet noticed these reminders, you will soon be offered suggestions for tuning up everything from cars, trucks and bicycles to houses, gardens and virtually anything else that we have taken for granted since last fall.

Without adding to your already overflowing list of things to do, this would be a good time to tune-up your marketing.

This month marks the end of the first quarter of 2013.

  • How are you doing with those goals that you started working on in January?
  • Is your marketing generated the kinds of results you want and expect?
  • Has the flow of new clients fallen short or even slowed to a stop?

Maybe you have been working like crazy and have yet to get fully involved in implementing your 2013 marketing plan.

Regardless of how you may think your marketing is performing, it’s would be a good idea to free up some time to evaluate its effectiveness.

This evaluation will identify and classify your marketing activities as:

  1. productive actions that you are performing well so that that you can continue to take these actions…or even better, improve them;
  2. productive actions that you are not performing as well as you could so that you can improve your performance;
  3. potentially productive actions that you are not currently performing so that you can consider starting to perform them;
  4. unproductive actions that you are performing, so that you can stop wasting resources on them.

The assessment will do more than help you understand your current situation. It will also help you make whatever adjustments are necessary to help you get to where you want to be by the end of the year.

There are many marketing assessment tools available; select the tool that works best for you.

If you do not have a favorite marketing assessment tool or want to learn more about marketing assessments, see Your Marketing Performance Assessment: The First Step To Better Marketing.

It really doesn’t matter what marketing assessment tool you use, the important thing is to take some time to review your marketing. How else can you be sure to get the results that you want and deserve?
